President John Low welcomed all to the meeting & was pleased to see so many people at the Annual General Meeting.

“The past year has been the most busy I have seen in my nine years with the MRA.  I have chaired the six meetings, many over three hours long.

Because of the number of issues and general public interest, the meeting was split into two  –  the first half on issues  –  the next on MRA management  (hall, correspondence, finance, airport report).

I wish to acknowledge the great efforts of executive members in making the MRA an organization of integrity and financial success. The Hall, our main enterprise is a credit to Jackie, and a thank you to Warren for his gardening.  Our website, a fabulous link to the world, thanks to Adriana.  The correspondence is in great shape thanks to Glennis and Adriana.  Our financial records, well in order, thanks to Louis.

Our sub group, Resdev and our Airport reps reports were very informative, thanks to Martin and Charles.  I acknowledge the invaluable assistance from Peter with our Grants submissions. 

The Runway and Surfing World continue to dominate public interest and new issues, the Twin Waters West Development, and the Maroochy River mouth rockwall proposal have emerged to cause much public interest.

Helicopter noise and the management of beach access points, traffic management, dog control, and footpaths have been other issues leading to passionate debate and the MRA follow up.

I would like to thank our councillor Jason O’Pray for his attendance and support for our meetings and his answering of submitted member’s questions.   To all meeting attendees, guest speakers, supporting local business, newspaper reps, a big thank you.

We look forward to a successful busy year representing the residents of Mudjimba and surrounds.

The MRA meetings are held the FIRST Tuesday of every second month @ 7.00pm in the Association’s Community Hall located at 41 Cottonwood Street Mudjimba. Next meeting will be on 6th June 2017 @ 7pm. All welcome.
